Election Choice between Moore Big Spending or Financial Responsibility
Only six days to go before residents and ratepayers elect a new Lord Mayor and Council for the City of Sydney. This election is about two choices.

The voters can choose one of the three big spending, big taxing and big government candidates in Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP, Labor Left’s Dr Meredith Bergman or Green Chris Harris.

Or they can vote for the only financially responsible mainstream candidate in this election, Shayne Mallard and the Liberal Action Team.

The three left aligned candidates all agree on plans that can harm Sydney’s economy:

  • Big Spending - $200,000 a day cash deficit for the next four years
  • Big Government - staff levels increased by over 12% or 200 over the past year
  • Big Taxing – Labor’s ‘silly’ new multi-million dollar tax on business in the CBD

With growing economic uncertainty now is not the time to risk the City of Sydney’s finances and economic growth on big spending left wing Lord Mayor or Councillors.

The imploding State Labor government has warned of a horror mini budget to protect the State’s threatened AAA financial rating. Sydney can no longer risk Clover Moore and Labor’s out of control spending spree.

That is why if I am elected Lord Mayor of Sydney, I will move to immediately reign in the Council’s big spending deficit budgets. On day one I will:

  • Freeze all new staff recruitment and review all plans for expansion with the exception of the City Guardians and the International Business Directorate.
  • Cut all operational budgets by 10% and Council’s Lord Mayoral promotional communications budget by 50%
  • Review all Capital Works projects planned for the next four years to find at least 5% savings
  • Spread non essential backlogged projects over an economically sustainable 10 year period.
  • Urgently review the $65 Million Town Hall upgrade
  • Cancel the upgrades of the Lord Mayor and Councillor’s offices.

The Mallard Liberal Council will live within its means. A Mallard Council will not selfishly raid the Council savings that are the economic security for future generations of ratepayers.

Sydney cannot afford the economic excesses of big spending, big taxing and big government Clover Moore, Labor and Greens.

This Saturday’s election is a choice between Moore big spending or balance and accountability from Mallard’s Liberal Action Team at Town Hall.
