David is a resident of Pyrmont. David studied engineering and obtained his honours degree in engineering from the University of Surrey UK in 1970.

Working in the capacity of designer and project manager his early years was involved with the design and development of many buildings from hospitals in Saudi Arabia, civic centres in UK, to computer centres in Australia. In recent years, David has operated a consultancy service that provides software development and analysis to blue chip companies.

David has been married for 39 years to Marilyn and has raised three children and there are now, three grandchildren. During those years, of being a parent, both, David and Marilyn have been heavily involved with youth activities. David was a referee for rugby union for several years having been a player, while Marilyn was a guide leader with a group that flourished under her direction. David became a group leader of the local scout group, which contained two joeys, three cub packs, two scout and one senior group, which created several Queen Scouts during his tenure. Having been a scout as a boy David sees the advantage of youth groups with the easy ability to be involved in many activities of caving, canoeing as well as learning how to work together. It was a way of enjoying the outback, while providing essential youth support.

David is currently chairperson of the owners’ corporation of a large city strata building and has learnt how the community has to adopt the newer style of city living; while Marilyn has been involved with the administration of the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce. Both believe strongly in developing local community associations.

David sees the need to maintain the prosperity of all citizens in the beautiful surroundings of Sydney, which derives its wealth from being a major commercial and tourist hub of the world.

Jeff Koid

Jeff was born in Singapore and grew up in Sydney. He is a Financial Advisor working in the CBD who walks to work from his home in Pyrmont. He attended the University of Western Sydney where he was active on the student council. A music lover, Jeff plays both electric and acoustic guitar. He is a regular at St Bedes Church, Pyrmont where he plays guitar for the Choir. Jeff worked full time as a volunteer for World Youth Day.

Noting that the median age of the City’s residents and workers is 32 compared with 37 for Australia, Jeff is concerned about the lack of voices for younger people on the City Council and is keen for a Youth Council to be established to help young Sydney residents have their opinions heard by local politicians.
